Safe and Sound At the Hawaii Yacht Club in Honolulu
Posted by Keith on April 14, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Just wanted everyone to know that we did indeed arrive safely in Honolulu yesterday afternoon. Enjoyed a nice celebratory dinner at the Chart House last night. We are docked right next to the Hawaii Yacht Club’s main club house, and last night the band played until midnight.
However, I must confess that I heard nothing after 9 PM Hawaii time, having fallen asleep, for the first time in 12 days, while my bed was not moving!
The Hawaii Yacht Club is everything a club of this sort should be. The staff and members here are just wonderful; and it’s ideal location right next to Waikiki beach makes it one of the most unique facilities in the world.
Today we are cleaning the boat, making lists of various matters that must be attended to, and generally getting organized. Tomorrow, I will broadcast the radio show from The Halekulani Hotel — and, yes, taking the rest of the day off.

Aloha and Congrats on arriving safely in Hawaii! Did you get to see the fireworks over the Ali Wai harbor Friday night that I had set up for you guys? 😉
Cheers! and Fair Seas, Kai
KAI,
Yes, indeed! The fireworks were spectacular. Someone tried to tell us that the Hawaiian Village Hotel next door shoots of the fireworks display every Friday night, but we knew that you had arranged it! And thanks for the clarification. That’s why native Hawaiians have a name for us mainlanders!

I am so happy to see that you all made it safe and sound to Honolulu! I have been checking the site regularly for blogs and pictures! I’m really enjoying it all. My Uncle Rip looks amazing and so happy on the sea…!! 🙂
Enjoy the Islands!
Aloha,

Keith, I work for Hunter Engineering Co.(for the last 40 years). Today I had a nice conversation with your son regarding the possibility of using his company’s services and he mentioned that I may have known your father – his grandfather Pete DeGreen.
I did have the pleasure of knowing your dad for many years both as a sales rep. and later as our National Account. Manager here in St. Louis. What a Great guy he was. I was a young pup at first and he helped me through some of the mine fields. He knew everything there was about not only our equipment but how the Company worked too. He always had time to visit with you and make you feel at ease.
As I’m sure you know, he felt the world of his wife and family. I’d always get a kick out of telling my buddies that I had a friend at work married to a celebrity — a former Mrs. America.
I was sorry when we got the word of his passing as well as your mothers. It’s nice to know they are back together again though. Well I’ll stop rambling for now but I could go on about all the evening activities your dad and I took part in with our Hunter folks. We weren’t all business!
God Bless you on your travels.
Best Regards,
Bob Toolen
